Two weeks. That’s how long it took Toni Braxton to decide she might’ve made a huge mistake.
It turns out the Grammy-winning songstress and hip-hop mogul Birdman secretly tied the knot back in August 2024. Fans have been speculating for years about their rollercoaster romance, but no one saw this coming: They officially got married on August 8, and by August 10, Toni was already citing “irretrievable breakdown” in a divorce filing.
Yes, two days. That’s barely enough time to recover from the wedding reception hangover.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Toni filed for divorce less than two weeks after the ceremony. Her filing claimed the relationship was already falling apart two days after the wedding, even though they were newlyweds on paper.
The individuals are referred to solely by their initials, “T.B.” for Toni Braxton and “B.W.” for Bryan Christopher Williams in the files.
Apparently, their intimate wedding occurred merely eight months after the Braxton Family Values star, who has children Denim Cole Braxton-Lewis, 23, and Diezel Ky Braxton-Lewis, 22, with her former spouse Keri Lewis, stressed that she and the rapper were merely friends.
Fast-forward to January 2025, and another surprise: Toni dismissed the divorce petition. Birdman signed off, too, meaning the couple is still legally husband and wife.
No press releases. No Instagram soft launches. Just quite legal drama behind the scenes.
In a 2018 conversation with Wendy Williams, Birdman disclosed that he and Toni have maintained their friendship for approximately “17, 18 years,” which aligns well considering that Braxton appeared on Birdman’s 2002 track “Baby Can You Do It” from the Cash Money leader’s first studio album.
“That’s my love, my soldier, my life, she’s my everything,” Birdman told Wendy Williams. “She’s my life. I love her to death.”
They’ve been romantically linked since 2016, rumored to be engaged (then not), and have kept things lowkey ever since. But clearly, something between them keeps pulling them back together, even if it means jumping from I do to I’m out and back again in under six months.
Congrats (again?) to Toni Braxton and Birdman!
