Tuscon Woman Who Committed String of Burglaries Within a Week Captured

 A Tucson woman has been arrested and charged with committing multiple burglaries in the area, police say.According to the Sierra Vista Police Department, Destiny Huerta committed the string of robberies within a week. On Sept. 4, she was accused of stealing a laptop from High Desert Dentistry, an establishment located at 5100 E. Hwy 90 at around 3 AM. Later that day, she forced herself into the office of Suncrest Apartments, located at 105 Toscanini Ave., where she allegedly stole a set of keys and some canceled checks at around 8:00 PM.Two days later, on Sept. 6, Huerta attempted to break into cash registers at a local McDonald’s at 1200 E. Fry Blvd. at around 2 AM. The same day, she conducted a forced entry into Lee’s Auto Sales at 1200 E. Fry Blvd and stole a 2014 Dodge Dart by driving it through the fence, according to SVPD.Authorities tracked down the stolen vehicle at a nearby motel and found her exiting the car and entering a room. She was subsequently arrested. In surveillance video, detectives combed through footage where the suspect was seen committing several of the crimes.Huerta faces five counts of burglary, one count of theft of means of transportation and one count of possession of burglary tools.She is currently booked at the Cochise County Jail and is held on an $8,000 bond.In June, Shine My Crown reported about a woman who was arrested and charged for multiple robberies across Long Island.Police say April Summers, 35, would often kidnap, rob and assault victims she met through online escort ads. When she was finally captured at the Floral Park Motor Inn on Jericho Turnpike, she violently resisted arrest. She was eventually apprehended, charged and detained.During her arraignment, alleged victims accused Summers of threatening to make rape allegations against them if they did not fork over $5,000.Summers was charged with robbery, assault, coercion and strangulation. The judge has also issued four orders of protection for the victims.
