A Miami community is mourning the tragic death of Maria Camila Garcia-Molina, a 24-year-old mother whose life was violently cut short on Saturday afternoon, April 26, 2025.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Garcia-Molina was found unresponsive with multiple stab wounds inside her car after authorities were alerted by a concerned grandmother who noticed a 3-year-old girl wandering alone through a residential complex.

Deputies later identified the child as Garcia-Molina’s daughter. The little girl had dried blood on her face and clothing but appeared physically unharmed.

Deputies discovered Garcia-Molina’s body, covered in blankets in the passenger seat of her vehicle, near Southwest 144th Street and Southwest 134th Avenue.

She had suffered fatal stab wounds to her neck, torso, and other extremities. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Through investigative efforts, authorities arrested 29-year-old Joy Chandra Nath, Garcia-Molina’s ex-boyfriend, on charges of second-degree murder and child abuse. Records show Garcia-Molina had previously obtained a restraining order against Nath due to stalking concerns.

Just a day before the fatal attack, an altercation reportedly occurred between Nath and Garcia-Molina’s current boyfriend at a local mall.

According to arrest documents, deputies believe Garcia-Molina’s daughter was present at the time of the murder. The child reportedly told investigators that her mother had been hit in the head and was “sleeping.”

Nath was arrested during a traffic stop early Sunday morning, allegedly with scratches on his face, arms, and neck.

Authorities said he was also in possession of Garcia-Molina’s belongings, including her purse and cellphone, and initially claimed he had been planning to return them.

Nath remains held without bond at the Miami-Dade County Jail. He was already out on bond for theft-related charges from 2023 at the time of the incident.

Ada, Garcia-Molina’s mom, has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $20,000 for her daughter’s burial and give her 3-year-old granddaughter “the most beautiful future”.

Family and friends are now left grappling with the devastating loss of Garcia-Molina, described as a loving mother whose life was stolen far too soon.

Her tragic death has reignited concerns about domestic violence and the need for stronger protections for survivors seeking safety.
