Amber Rose ignited controversy by publicly endorsing Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential bid, drawing criticism from many for her unexpected support of the controversial figure.
The model and TV personality stirred the pot on Monday, May 20, by sharing a photo standing with Donald and Melania Trump, announcing her intention to vote for Trump in the upcoming election.
“Trump 2024 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸,” she captioned the photo.
Rose faced swift backlash from observers who found it contradictory for her to back Trump given his contentious history with women’s rights.
With Trump’s numerous allegations of sexual misconduct contrasting Rose’s advocacy against slut-shaming, her endorsement of Trump sparked surprise and criticism.
“Imagine being an ‘advocate’ for women’s rights and endorsing Trump and his party who reversed Roe V Wade. Wild,” one person commented.
“Damn Amber… You’re a Bisexual woman of color that runs a movement that stands up for Women’s rights and their power against anyone that abuses it… that’s literally OPPOSITE of what he supports… smdh,” added another.
In response to the criticism, Rose defended her stance on The Shade Room, insisting she had done her “research” before supporting Trump’s 2024 campaign.
“Lmaooo yall think Biden cares about black ppl??? Sad. Do ur research. I did. I’ll ALWAYS put women first,” she responded. “Y’all want biological men in women’s sports. Trump supports the most reasonable compromise on abortion. Stop being brainwashed cuz WE’RE ppl of color. Make your own decisions.”
Some referenced Rose’s past altercation with Joseline Hernandez, where Hernandez accused Rose of aspiring to be “a white girl,” leading to a physical confrontation between the two.
This prompted renewed criticism of Rose’s racial identity and political stance. Rose describes herself as Black, Portuguese, Irish, and Italian.
Amid the ongoing debate, Joseline Hernandez took to her Instagram Story to reiterate her previous remarks, labeling Rose a “Karen” and criticizing her racial identity.
On Tuesday, May 21, Rose reiterated her support for women in a video post, but her comment section reflected the ongoing controversy surrounding her political alignment ahead of the 2024 election.
