Uber Driver Exposes Mother Who Left Her Baby With Her To Go Clubbing: ‘She Stopped Answering Her Phone’

by Gee NY

In a story that has both stunned and divided social media users, a St. Louis Uber driver says she was left to care for a passenger’s baby overnight after the child’s mother went clubbing, and provided a fake address for the drop-off.

The driver, who goes by Jay Love, says what began as a routine ride quickly spiraled into an all-night ordeal when her passenger allegedly handed her a baby under the pretense of needing a favor. Jay Love claims the woman ( identified online as Quita Mays) asked her to drop the child off with a babysitter, only to later change the plan mid-ride.

“She said the babysitter couldn’t watch her, so she told me to take the baby to her daddy’s house instead,” Jay explained in a live-stream posted the following morning. “But when I got there, nobody answered. I kept calling, texting, and nothing. She stopped answering her phone.”

According to Jay, what followed was an agonizing night of uncertainty. She said she cared for the baby — feeding, comforting, and keeping her safe — while repeatedly trying to reach the mother. At one point, she says Mays texted from another number claiming her phone had died, only to ask Jay to “hold onto the baby until the club closes.”

“I have a good heart. I’m not finna just up and leave this baby,” Jay said emotionally. “I’ve got a daughter myself. But why is you not communicating and not getting your child, bro? This girl left her baby with me since 8 o’clock. That’s not good!”

After a sleepless night, Jay took the baby to the St. Louis Police Department, expecting officers to step in. To her surprise, police told her to return the child to the mother rather than place the baby in protective custody. Jay says she eventually reunited the child with Mays and shared her experience on Facebook, warning other rideshare drivers to be vigilant.

Her video quickly went viral.

The case has sparked intense discussion online. Many users praised Jay for her restraint and compassion, while others criticized local authorities for not treating the situation as a case of potential neglect.

From a broader social standpoint, the incident underscores how gig economy workers—from Uber drivers to delivery couriers—are increasingly being drawn into complex social situations they were never trained or contracted to handle.

“This isn’t just a wild story,” one commentator noted. “It’s a reflection of how precarious parenting, mental health, and community trust have become in many American cities.”

It’s also prompted questions about what police procedures are followed when a non-relative turns in a child who has effectively been abandoned overnight. As of now, there’s no indication that charges have been filed against Mays, and Uber has not commented publicly on the matter.

Still, the story’s moral weight lingers.

Jay’s video — equal parts disbelief, exhaustion, and compassion — captured the fragile line between human decency and systemic failure. Her final words summed up what many were thinking:

“One thing about me, I’m gonna take care of a baby. But this right here? This ain’t normal.”
