A legal action has been taken against YouTube personality Tasha K by comedian Kevin Hart who has filed an extortion and defamation lawsuit against her. She is alleged to have attempted to extort $250,000 from the actor and comedian.
The controversial blogger, born LaTasha Kebe, is accused of threatening to release a scathing interview with Hart’s former assistant, Miesha Shakes.
The legal saga began in November when Hart sent a cease-and-desist letter to Tasha K, stating that he would not succumb to the $250,000 demand to prevent the interview’s publication.
The interview with Shakes reportedly delves into Hart’s personal life, labeling him as a serial cheater and gambler, rekindling memories of a past cheating scandal while his wife, Eniko Hart, was pregnant in 2017.
The cease-and-desist letter warned Tasha K of potential legal consequences, asserting, “You have already engaged in criminal conduct and tortious acts that would entitle Hart to monetary damages against you.”
Hart’s representative, Donte Mills, revealed that someone affiliated with Tasha K had contacted his team. The actor’s team promptly informed the police about the alleged extortion attempt, detailing the threats to release the damaging interview. The complaint states that Hart did not pay the demanded ransom.
Investigators were directed to a teaser video shared by Tasha K on YouTube and Instagram, hinting at explosive revelations in the interview titled, “Explosive! Kevin Hart’s PA Tells All! | Gambling Addict, Cheater, Extortion, 4 Million DUI Payoff.”
Miesha Shakes, the former assistant, defended the interview, claiming people needed to hear her story and that non-disclosure agreements silenced others in Hollywood.
In response to the lawsuit, Hart is not only suing Tasha K for civil extortion and invasion of privacy but is also suing Shakes for breach of contract and defamation.
The suit alleges that Shakes violated a confidentiality agreement signed in 2017 and again in 2020, in exchange for $30,000 a year for three years.
The lawsuit sheds light on Tasha K’s controversial history of posting defamatory content about celebrities, referencing her previous $4 million defamation case with Cardi B, which she lost.
Tasha K’s interview with Shakes was published on her paid subscription website on Dec. 27, despite legal action from Kevin Hart.
Meanwhile, speculation about Hart’s fidelity arose after Eniko Hart shared an Instagram Story on Christmas Eve, stating, “The level of ‘idgaf’ I reached this year is crazy.”
As the legal battle unfolds, Kevin Hart seeks justice against Tasha K, her company, Kebe Studios, LLC, and Miesha Shakes, alleging intentional interference with contractual relations and breach of confidentiality agreements.
Hart’s lawyers have not commented on the suit publicly.
