Progressive political commentator and activist Danielle Moodie issued a stark warning on Instagram following the Trump administration’s recent deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles,.
She expressed the fear that the move signals a broader crackdown on blue cities under the guise of public safety.
In a post on Instagram, Moodie urged her followers to “stay woke and stay safe”, calling the deployment the beginning of what she describes as a militarized expansion of federal power rooted in political retribution.
“Donald Trump was going to begin to invade blue cities under the guise and lie of trying to keep the peace,” Moodie said in a video shared to her Instagram account. “This was going to be the beginning of the militarization of the Trump regime.”
The video, nearly two minutes long, accuses Trump of using ICE as a “private Gestapo” and warns that the National Guard presence in California, specifically in Compton and Paramount, is a test case for a larger campaign to suppress dissent and potentially usher in martial law.
Moodie points to tanks reportedly stationed in Washington, D.C., in preparation for Trump’s upcoming birthday event, comparing the show of military force to the authoritarian pageantry of North Korea’s Kim Jong-un.
“Donald Trump has fucking tanks rolling into D.C. for his Kim Jong-un style fucking birthday celebration,” she said. “All so he can look like a strong man. Pay attention, folks.”

She further warned that martial law would curtail civil liberties, including curfews, warrantless detentions, and warrantless searches, if invoked under federal authority.
The deployment of National Guard troops to Los Angeles has already drawn sharp criticism from Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom, both of whom have called the move unnecessary and politically motivated. Neither has declared a state of emergency or requested federal military assistance, raising questions about the legality and motives behind the deployment.
“Right now, California is a test case for what he is willing to do in all blue states across this country,” Moodie stated. “We are entering into the next phase of this regime. And it is not a game and it is not a joke.”
Moodie concluded her message by encouraging protesters to stay informed, know their rights, and remain connected with emergency contacts.
She explained that political awareness and community safety are paramount in what she sees as an increasingly volatile moment in American history.
