In a triumphant moment at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards, Da’Vine Joy Randolph secured the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie for her remarkable portrayal of Mary Lamb in “The Holdovers.”

During her acceptance speech, Da’Vine Joy Randolph took a moment to express gratitude to the influential women who played pivotal roles in shaping her career.
She said:
“To play a woman that is so many things, to see themselves as a gift … I want to have a moment to thank the incredible women in my life who have made me the artist I am today.”
Randolph specifically acknowledged her mother for instilling the values of hard work and tenacity, her Aunt Shirley for teaching her how to be fabulous, and her Aunt Gwenny for imparting the art of the perfect joke.
She thanked teachers who guided her and women in the industry who fiercely supported her journey.
Competing against notable actresses like Emily Blunt, Danielle Brooks, America Ferrera, Jodie Foster, and Julianne Moore, Randolph’s performance in “The Holdovers” stood out, earning her accolades and recognition.
Reflecting on her career and recent achievements, Randolph expressed gratitude and a sense of surrender to life’s unpredictable path.
“Every time I think I’m in control and trying to do something, it doesn’t work. There’s nothing on my résumé that I went after. Nothing… Life is life-ing, and it’s like, ‘Nope, you’re not going to be in control,’” she shared.
