A simmering feud has erupted between Teyana Taylor and Kayla Nicole following allegations that Kayla shaded Teyana on social media over her alleged history with Iman Shumpert.
The drama began when internet sleuths pointed out what they believed to be a subliminal message from Kayla Nicole, sparking rumors that she was shading Teyana over her past romantic entanglements between herself and Iman Shumpert, Teyana’s ex-husband.

In Thursday’s episode of Angel Reese’s Unapologetically Angel podcast, the sports commentator revealed “the pettiest thing she has done in a relationship.”
“I was dating a guy, and he dumped me through a text message, and he dumped me for this singer/actress,” Kayla began the narrative that has taken social media by storm.
“Dumped me for her. Lied about it for months, then popped out with her and became this public thing,” Nicole continued, adding that fans saw them as a “celebrity iconic relationship.”
Although Kayla Nicole didn’t mention names other than saying that the other woman “was famous at the time,” fans quickly went into detective mode when the fitness influencer said she dressed up as the singer and actress for Halloween that same year.
After some research, social media users discovered that Kayla Nicole, a few years ago, did a photoshoot dressed in the same outfit Teyana Taylor wore in Ye’s ‘Fade’ video.
Teyana Taylor did not hold back in a lengthy comment on The Shade Room’s Instagram post. The post featured a tweet she previously shared in response to the situation. In her comment, she called out Nicole for her choice of words and shady storytelling.
“I’m divorced and happily so; however, her choice of words was very distasteful and uncalled for. She knew exactly what she was doing. That lady said ‘she was famous at the time’ all said ‘idc who see it’ it was very distasteful and uncalled for,” Taylor wrote.
“Crazy part about it all is, I actually showed love under her pic when she posted it! Like I did the other 3736262626 people who dressed up as me for Halloween. The whole time, I ain’t even know she was being shady. Now I do. So, in that case, petty panties on. I had my lil fun I said what I said & now I’m done and headed back to set,” Teyana concluded.
The “Book of Clarence” star also threw some jabs of her own by posting her recent accomplishments — including several acting gigs — in an Instagram carousel set to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off.”
“I know 2025 gone hate to see a Taylor coming!!,” she captioned the post.
For context, Nicole previously dated Taylor Swift’s current boyfriend, Travis Kelce. She also said that the Swifties have been targeting her on social media.
