The bitter, years-long feud between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B has turned legal threats over Nicki’s alleged infertility issues.
Nicki Minaj and Cardi B have reignited their ongoing feud, and this time, it has become intensely personal. What began with jabs about album sales quickly spiraled into one of their most vicious exchanges, involving family insults, accusations regarding fertility, and even threats of legal action.
The drama kicked off when Nicki threw shade at Cardi’s latest album, “Am I the Drama”, celebrating its strong first-week sales of 200,000 equivalent units. Nicki implied that the numbers were inflated due to the album being sold at a discounted price of $4.99. But that wasn’t where it ended for her. The rapper also criticized Cardi’s music, her appearance, and her new relationship with Stefon Diggs, a star player for the Buffalo Bills, with whom Cardi is expecting a child.
Cardi didn’t hold back in her response, and that’s when things really escalated. She accused Nicki of opioid addiction and claimed that years of substance abuse had left her unable to have children. Cardi also brought up Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender, as well as her brother, Jelani Maraj, who was convicted of child sexual assault and endangerment in 2017.
The back-and-forth only got more heated from there. Both artists began insulting each other’s children, which left many fans feeling uncomfortable. Nicki reportedly referred to Cardi’s daughter, Kulture, as “ugly,” while Cardi stood her ground, repeating her claims about Nicki’s fertility issues: “Going to different fertility doctors cuz you couldn’t reproduce from all them percs scrambling your eggs,” Cardi posted, which quickly went viral.
Feeling fed up, Nicki took to X (formerly Twitter) on her son’s fifth birthday to deny the allegations and express that she’s contemplating legal action. However, her lengthy post wasn’t solely about responding; it also turned into a discussion on women’s reproductive rights.
“Also, let me say this, tho I have never had fertility issues, it’s not something to be used as a drag,” Nicki stated from her verified account @NICKIMINAJ. “Until you know the women who are actually living that pain, blaming themselves. We could only imagine & pray for them, love them, uplift them. Not use these women as a punch line.”
Still, her choice to write lengthy posts on social media during her son’s birthday had Cardi making jokes: “Girl, it’s YOUR SON BIRTHDAY, why are you on Twitter dedicating essays to me??? For the love of god, go to Chuck E. Cheese.”
The rap scene has seen its fair share of rivalries, but fans are now questioning whether this feud has crossed a line. While exchanging barbs over albums and relationships is one thing, involving children, trauma, and women’s health feels like a dangerous turning point.
