Regina Hall (@morereginahall) has inked an exclusive first-look deal with MGM Alternative, a branch of Amazon MGM Studios known for hit series like “The Voice,” “Survivor,” and “Shark Tank.”
A first-look deal is an agreement that allows a studio or network the first option to consider and potentially purchase any new projects developed by the production company before they are pitched to other studios.
Through her production company, Rh Negative, Hall will create and produce original unscripted content, focusing on true crime, ensemble docuseries, and game show formats.
The first project in development is “Squad Games,” a lively competition series inspired by Hall’s film Girls Trip. The show will feature celebrities and their real-life friends on an exotic adventure packed with daring challenges.
Expressing her excitement about the collaboration, Hall shared:
“This partnership with MGM is incredibly promising, and I can’t wait to share what we have in store.”
Barry Poznick, MGM Alternative’s general manager, highlighted Hall’s appeal, noting:
“Her humor, honesty, and storytelling make her an ideal partner as we expand our slate of unscripted shows.”
Hall is widely recognized for her roles in Girls Trip, the Scary Movie series, The Best Man, and Think Like a Man. She recently starred in and produced Honk for Jesus, Save Your Soul and the Amazon Prime occult thriller Master.
Her upcoming projects include the sci-fi rock opera O’Dessa and a film directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn.
Regina Hall is represented by Independent Artist Group.
