Lil Wayne’s daughter, Reginae Carter, has shared her thoughts on the recent TikTok ban in the United States, expressing a sense of detachment from the issue.
TikTok ceased operations in the United States late Saturday, and it was removed from both Apple and Google app stores prior to a law coming into effect on Sunday that mandates the closure of the platform utilized by 170 million Americans.
In response, President-elect Donald Trump has indicated that he would provide TikTok with a 90-day delay from the ban once he assumes office on Monday, a commitment that TikTok referred to in a message shared with users on the app.
“A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S. Unfortunately, that means you can’t use TikTok for now. We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office. Please stay tuned,” a notification alerted users attempting to access the app late on Saturday night.
While many social media stars and creators are panicking about the potential loss of the platform, Reginae has taken a different approach, calling out what she sees as a bigger picture being overlooked.
In a thought-provoking post on X (formerly Twitter), Reginae didn’t mince words. “I would be hurt about TikTok, but that’s just another distraction to not talk about what the hell is going on in the world,” she wrote. Her message didn’t stop there; she went on to highlight the dire state of current events, reminding her followers of the real-life tragedies unfolding globally.
“Losing TikTok is sad, but people just lost their homes and lives,” Reginae continued. “Terrorist attacks, planes almost crashing, & shit… just stay prayed up, child.”
Her post quickly gained traction, diving fans on social media. While many are focused on the immediate effects of the TikTok ban such as loss of income for creators and the cultural impact of removing a major platform. Others argue that despite all the good, TikTok has taken over many lives, turning its users into view-mongering fanatics.
At the beginning of this month, Reginae Carter delivered a strong message to those lacking empathy for the victims of the wildfires in Los Angeles.
As celebrities recounted heartbreaking experiences and provided updates about their homes destroyed in the Los Angeles Fires, many fans offered them messages of support.
Nonetheless, some believed that the celebrities had ample financial resources and could readily purchase new residences.
Such a lack of empathy infuriated many, including Reginae, who posted on X on Friday, calling out people with such mindsets.
She wrote, “I wanna tell the ignorant people something … it doesn’t matter how much money you have .. don’t nobody wanna see everything they worked so hard for .. in Ashes! Like, wtf is wrong with y’all telling fortunate people to “just buy a new house” like, huh? Y’all are weird.”
Reginae shared her prayers in a different post while reflecting on the “scary times.”
