“Get you a woman that can rub your feet at night!” That’s the advice Mo’Nique gave Shannon Sharpe during a 2024 episode of Club Shay Shay. And now that clip is resurfacing with a vengeance.
Why? Because Sharpe, the 56-year-old NFL Hall of Famer turned wildly popular podcaster, is now at the center of a $50 million rape lawsuit filed by a 22-year-old ex-girlfriend. And folks online are connecting the dots, replaying Mo’Nique’s words like they were straight out of a prophecy.
The clip went viral again after it was revealed that Sharpe’s current sexual assault accuser met the former NFL star, 56, in 2022 at the age of 20.
In the now-viral interview, Mo’Nique didn’t mince her words. When Sharpe joked about dating in your 50s, Mo’Nique clapped back, “I’m not 56 and trying.”
“You better take your old a** and get somebody to love you,” Mo, 57, tells Sharpe in the clip, adding that he needs an “old gal” that can cook, is willing to rub his feet, and will support him beyond reaping the benefits of his bank account.
Then, looking him dead in the eye, she launched into a fiery rant: “Leave them young b*tches alone!” The room erupted in laughter, but now… nobody’s laughing.
According to the lawsuit, Sharpe met the woman, Gabbi, aka Karli, when she was just 20 years old in 2023. She now accuses him of sexual assault and claims he offered her millions to stay quiet.
The complaint, filed Sunday in Nevada state court, claims Sharpe assaulted, sexually assaulted, committed battery, sexual battery, and had intentionally inflicted emotional distress during the nearly two-year relationship.
Shannon Sharpe characterized the lawsuit as an attempt at extortion in a recorded statement made public on Tuesday, and his attorney, Lanny J. Davis, shared text messages that he claimed demonstrate “a pattern of sexual role-playing that specifically includes her being choked by him.”
Sharpe’s legal team denies the rape allegations, though they do admit he made a $10 million settlement offer before the lawsuit hit. Even more damning is a recorded call where Sharpe allegedly threatens to choke her, something his lawyer brushed off as “heat of the moment” talk.
But there’s more. The lawyer also claims text messages prove Gabbi was into “unusual” sexual behavior, including asking Sharpe to tie her up and abuse her. Screenshots have circulated online, sparking a whole new wave of debate.
Social media is lit with commentary. Some are dragging Shannon for ignoring Mo’Nique’s big-sister energy. Others are questioning the timing and authenticity of the accusations.
