Nearly two years after a viral moment at Usher’s Las Vegas residency ignited heated debates and a wave of public scrutiny, Keke Palmer is finally telling her side of the story—through music.
The Emmy-winning entertainer and singer has released a powerful preview of her new single, “My Confession,” a candid and emotionally charged track from her upcoming project Just Keke, which drops June 20.
The song directly addresses the infamous 2023 controversy involving Palmer’s ex-partner, Darius Jackson, who publicly criticized her outfit after a video surfaced of her being serenaded by Usher at the Vegas show.
“It’s the outfit tho… you a mom,” Jackson tweeted at the time, sparking intense backlash.

The public fallout escalated into a highly publicized legal battle, involving domestic violence allegations, restraining orders, and a custody dispute over the couple’s child.
Now, Palmer is reclaiming her story. In a preview shared to Instagram, she flips the script with striking lyrics that sample Usher’s iconic “Confessions, Part II”:
“Summer 23 we was in Vegas right / Broke up wit me and you hopped up on a flight.”
In her caption, Palmer wrote:
“This one is personal. ‘My Confession’ is exactly what it sounds like—me giving voice to the feelings I buried… My peace… clarity. My way of letting go.”
Though “My Confession” marks a powerful act of personal expression and closure for Palmer, signs point to healing on both sides. Jackson recently joined the U.S. Army, and Palmer has publicly acknowledged his efforts toward growth, calling it a step in his “redemption” journey.
The two are now focused on co-parenting, following months of legal tension.
Just Keke is shaping up to be Palmer’s boldest musical chapter yet—fusing vulnerability with empowerment. With “My Confession,” she’s not just addressing the past—she’s transforming it into art on her own terms.
