Rapper Eve recently found herself at the center of an unexpected online debate after sharing photos of her Christmas celebration with her husband, millionaire businessman Maximillion Cooper, and his family.
The “Let Me Blow Your Mind” rapper went viral over the holidays after sharing a glimpse of her Christmas celebration with her husband, millionaire entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper, and his family in the U.K.
However, what should have been a heartwarming holiday moment turned into a full-blown debate on social media.
The photos, which made their rounds online thanks to The Shade Room, show Eve enjoying a traditional Christmas dinner with Cooper and his family. One particular photo has stolen the spotlight, capturing Eve at the dinner table surrounded by a sea of white faces, with her being the only Black person in the room.
And you know Black Twitter couldn’t resist chiming in.
Social media drew comparisons to the iconic film “Get Out,” Jordan Peele’s critically acclaimed horror film that satirizes race relations in contemporary America.
The eerie parallel had social media users rolling, with some commenting, “Sis, blink twice if you need help!” while others playfully remarked, “Somebody check if her phone is on silent!”
However, not everyone saw the humor in the situation.
Amid the jokes, there was a chorus of voices defending Eve and calling out the unnecessary scrutiny. Many pointed out that she’s been married to Cooper for nearly a decade, and their relationship seems stronger than ever.
“The reaction to Eve’s husband’s Christmas photo has been so embarrassing. For so many of you, ‘success’ is literally just being in the company of white people, and idk why you don’t see how exceedingly pathetic that is as a primary goal,” a fan commented.
Another added, “If Eve isn’t uncomfortable at her husband’s table, then I don’t know where all this “concern” is coming from. Y’all are never concerned about black women until they look well-rested and happy.”
Eve has yet to respond to the chatter, but if her past interviews are any indication, she’s unbothered by the noise. After all, she’s a Grammy-winning rapper, a loving wife, and a devoted mother who’s living life on her own terms.
So, while social media may have had its fun, it’s time to let Eve enjoy her Christmas dinner in peace. As one Twitter user aptly put it, “Y’all need to leave Eve alone and worry about what’s on your own holiday plate.”
