Beyoncé walked away empty-handed from the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards despite being nominated a staggering 17 times.
Despite her record-breaking “Cowboy Carter” album, Country Music Awards appear steadfast in their refusal to recognize Beyoncé.
Earlier this month, Beyoncé’s fans were shocked and disappointed when the singer did not receive any nominations from Country Music Awards (CMAs) for her first full-length country album, Cowboy Carter.
This rejection becomes the second time the CMAs and their audience have clashed with Beyoncé.
At the 2016 CMA Awards, Beyoncé performed with country music group The Chicks (formerly Dixie Chicks), which was one of the night’s most talked-about performances. The trio performed “Daddy Lessons,” a country-infused track from Beyoncé’s Lemonade album. Unfortunately, the performance quickly became contentious, with some country music purists upset that a Black pop star had crossed over into their territory.
Moreover, Mathew Knowles, Beyoncé’s father, believes racism was the reason his daughter was not nominated at the 2024 CMAs.
Beyoncé’s losing streak at the country award ceremony comes after the music icon failed to take home a single award from the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards, leaving fans stunned.
Queen Bey was nominated for more awards than any other female artist Thursday, but she came up empty-handed, losing categories such as People’s Artist, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Female Artist.
Beyoncé’s country album, “Cowboy Carter,” ranks alongside Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish’s releases in terms of commercial success, but the numbers aren’t translating into awards.
