Hip-hop legend T.I. has shown his appreciation for rising star Latto by gifting her a stunning iced-out ring inspired by his iconic Trap House Museum to recognize Latto’s recent win as “Trapper of the Year.”
Born Alyssa Stephens in Columbus, Ohio, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Latto first gained attention as a teenager when she won the inaugural season of the reality T.V. show “The Rap Game” in 2016. Although she turned down the show’s prize of a recording contract, Latto used the exposure as a springboard to independently launch her music career.
In 2019, Latto released her breakout single “B*tch From Da Souf,” which became a viral hit and established her as a force to be reckoned with. The song’s success led to a remix featuring Saweetie and Trina, further boosting her profile and introducing her to a broader audience. By 2020, Latto had signed with RCA Records, and her career was on an upward trajectory.
Latto’s third studio album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, on August 9, solidifies her status as a major player in the rap game. The 22-track album features several musical guest stars, including Megan Thee Stallion, Coco Jones, and Cardi B.
On August 29, during a ceremony at the Trap Music Museum in Atlanta, T.I. honored Latto with the title of 2024 Trapper of the Year; the private event at the museum included DJs, Latto-inspired karaoke, the unveiling of a Latto exhibit, and the rapper receiving a custom Trapper of the Year ring from T.I. himself.
