Political commentator and digital media host Reecie Colbert is calling for what she described as a future effort to prosecute officials from the Trump administration over federal immigration enforcement actions, particularly involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
In a post shared last Thursday on Instagram and during an appearance on RolandMartinUnfiltered, Colbert argued that senior officials should be held legally accountable for what she characterized as a pattern of lawlessness encouraged from the top levels of government.
Her remarks followed the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, a protester whose death has become a flashpoint in the national debate over federal immigration enforcement.
“Those at the top are directly responsible for encouraging lawlessness,” Colbert wrote, adding that there is “no statute of limitations on murder,” and asserting that accountability depends on political will rather than legal constraints.

In an accompanying video, Colbert urged Democratic lawmakers and future officeholders to begin documenting the actions of Trump officials and individuals she described as having been empowered by a “white nationalist agenda.”
She proposed what she called a “Project 2028,” which she described as a plan to pursue prosecutions immediately if political control changes hands.
Colbert was sharply critical of calls for political “normalcy,” arguing instead that restorative approaches would fail to address what she views as systemic abuses of power.
Her comments also reflected broader concerns among some activists that the lack of accountability for federal officials has emboldened aggressive enforcement tactics.
The statements have drawn both support and criticism on social media. Supporters argue that her remarks reflect widespread frustration over immigration enforcement practices and the perceived absence of consequences for government misconduct. Critics, however, have raised concerns about the tone of the rhetoric and the implications of framing future political change primarily around retribution.

Federal authorities have not issued new public statements regarding the Pretti case beyond earlier accounts, and no additional charges have been announced.
Legal experts note that prosecutions of federal officials would face significant constitutional, evidentiary, and procedural hurdles, including questions of immunity, jurisdiction, and intent.
Colbert has continued to stress that her remarks are about justice and accountability, not partisan politics, insisting that democratic institutions must be willing to confront abuses of power to maintain public trust.
