Founded by Tomi Talabi, the organization gathered an intimate yet powerful collective of innovators, executives, creatives, and founders to honor the inaugural Vanguard 50, an inspiring cohort of industry trailblazers shaping the future of Black beauty.

From brand founders and product developers to marketing executives and cultural strategists, the Vanguard 50 represents the depth and diversity of talent fueling today’s beauty landscape.
Talabi, whose work has centered on building intentional spaces for Black professionals in beauty, opened the evening with heartfelt remarks about the power of visibility and collective growth. She emphasized that the Vanguard Awards were created not simply to celebrate success, but to document impact. “This is about legacy,” she noted, underscoring the importance of recognizing those who are shifting narratives, increasing access, and driving innovation behind the scenes.
