Earlier this week, Owens spoke about the tension between her and the conservative website co-founder Ben Shapiro while appearing on ‘The Breakfast Club.’
The Daily Wire is a conservative news website for which she has hosted a weekly show for years.
According to CNN, The Daily Wire’s CEO, Jeremy Boreing, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday, March 22, to share the news. Boreing said that the company and Owens “have ended their relationship.”
An hour later, Owens took to X to confirm her termination.
“The rumors are true. I am finally free… There will be many announcements in the weeks to come,” she wrote.
Candace Owens also took to her Instagram stories to share a short message with her followers.
“Alright, guys. Obviously, my phone is exploding. There is a lot that I could say and a lot that I would say,” she continued. “Basically, I want you guys to first know that we will be bringing the show back, but we are in a bit of a hiatus, so I want to direct you to my new YouTube channel, where you can sign up.”
According to Daily Wire, Owens seems to ruffle feathers by repeatedly accusing Israel of committing “genocide” in Gaza during the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. Furthermore, Owens reportedly claimed that there was a “small ring” of Jewish people in the White House with “quite sinister” intentions.
Owens’ feud with Shapiro went public in November of last year when Owens tweeted: “No government anywhere has the right to commit genocide, ever. There is no justification for genocide. I can’t believe this has to be said or is even considered controversial.”
She later shared a Bible verse while zoning in on greed and morals.
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
“You cannot serve both God and money,” she added.
Shapiro responded to the tweet with, “Candace, if you feel that taking money from The Daily Wire somehow comes between you and God, by all means quit.”
She promptly replied, “You have been acting unprofessionally and emotionally unhinged for weeks now. And we have all had to sit back and allow it and have all tried to exercise exceeding understanding for your raw emotion.”
Owens is obviously unperturbed by the events, as she encourages her fans to continue consuming her content and supporting her.
“Secondly, I have joined the local community, so for those of you who would like to sign up and support the show as an independent journalist. This is my local channel.
“I hope that everybody watching that my career and my life have been an example of what God can do in your life if you trust him, and I trust him. So thank you, guys, for all the love. News of her dismissal has been received with mixed reactions. While some call the move unfair, others say it’s been long coming.
