In a shocking revelation from the upcoming book “Find Me the Votes” by Michael Isikoff and Daniel Klaidman, it has been disclosed that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis had to resort to leaving a courthouse in disguise due to a disturbing death threat posted on the dark web.
The incident occurred last August after Willis announced a racketeering indictment against former President Donald Trump.
The authors, who conducted a two-year, in-depth investigation into the conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election, uncovered the extent of the threats faced by Willis and her family as she pursued the criminal indictment against Trump and his alleged co-conspirators.
As Willis built her case, the threats escalated, with an especially unsettling assassination threat discovered on a dark web MAGA site.
The threat suggested targeting Willis as she left the courthouse, prompting an elaborate security operation, including the use of a body double.
Klaidman shared details of the operation during an interview with MSNBC, stating:
“The best time to shoot her is when she leaves the building, so they set up an elaborate operation that involves a body double.”
After announcing the indictment, Willis changed into plain clothes in a back room and discreetly exited the courthouse, utilizing a body double to exit from the main entrance where the media and the public were waiting.
The body double, resembling Willis in appearance, wore a bulletproof vest for added protection.
The authors described the dramatic scene, with Klaidman stating:
“The body double goes out the front of the courthouse. She is wearing a bulletproof vest, goes out to the front of the courthouse, gets in the official black SUVs. Meanwhile, Fani Willis and her team go out, slip out the back of the courthouse, get into civilian cars and leave for an undisclosed location. Really, a dramatic moment.”
Despite facing ongoing attacks and threats from Trump’s legal team and loyalists, Willis remains resolute in her pursuit of justice.
Recent allegations questioning her involvement in an improper relationship with a special prosecutor assigned to the case have added another layer of complexity to the legal proceedings.
Attorneys for Trump have been actively working to undermine the case, alleging racial motivation and challenging Willis’ credibility.
