Halle Bailey is finally speaking out following the news of her split from longtime boyfriend and rapper DDG, and she’s doing it with just three powerful words. The “Little Mermaid” star, who has been notoriously private about her personal life, is handling the breakup in the same manner.
Last week, DDG announced on Instagram that he and Halle Bailey had parted ways. The young former couple welcomed their first child, Halo, barely nine months ago. DDG described their split as amicable, claiming that they remained close.
“Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true,” he explained. “We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our own individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared.”
After his announcement, DDG revealed details about the split on The No Ordinary Podcast, where he disclosed that he and Halle decided to have a baby to prove critics wrong.
He also added that he has not moved on into another relationship and hopes that he and Hailey will come back because he wants all his children to be from one mother.
As he continued to speak on their former relationship, the media circus rose to a frenzy, with many speculating what caused them to end their relationship.
Less than two weeks after DDG notification, The Little Mermaid star appeared to address the breakup while sharing a glimpse of her new life.
Accompanied by photos of her workouts with their 9-month-old son Halo, a picture from pool time, and another one showing her drinking what seems to be a glass of white wine in a recording studio, she captioned the Oct. 11 post with “life is beautiful,” along with pink heart and smiling face with heart emojis.
Halle also shared the photos on her Instagram Story, where she added the breakup anthem “Survivor” by Destiny’s Child playing over the images. The 24-year-old actress included the section with the lyrics: “I’m a survivor, I’m not gonna give up, I’m not gonna stop, I’m gonna work harder, I’m a survivor, I’m gonna make it, I will survive, keep on survivin’.”
Since posting the three-word caption, Halle’s Instagram has been bombarded with support from her fans and fellow celebrities. Many people have praised her courage and grace during what must have been a difficult time.
