A pregnant Mississippi mother of three, Glynis Jackson, tragically lost her life after being allegedly kidnapped and shot by her ex-boyfriend before attempting to escape, only to be struck by a passing vehicle.

Jackson, who was expecting her fourth child, was allegedly abducted on the morning of Jan. 27 from the Nissan plant in Canton by her ex-boyfriend, Joshua Demarshall Andrews.

Authorities say Andrews forced her into a vehicle before shooting her multiple times. In a desperate attempt to flee, Jackson reportedly jumped from the car and was fatally struck by another vehicle, according to reports by WTVA, WLBT, and WSAZ.

Jackson’s death has left her loved ones devastated, with many questioning how such a brutal crime could unfold in broad daylight. A dedicated mother, Jackson was trying to build a better future for her children when she became the victim of an alleged act of domestic violence that ultimately took both her life and that of her unborn child.

Authorities swiftly charged Andrews with capital murder and first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Jackson and her unborn child. He also faces charges for possessing a firearm as a felon, Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker confirmed.

“This is a heinous crime that shocks the conscience of society, and Andrews will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” Tucker stated.

Demand for Justice

Following the abduction, Andrews later turned himself in at the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. Officials have not disclosed whether the driver of the vehicle that struck Jackson will face any charges.

Jackson’s tragic death highlights the dangers many women face when attempting to leave abusive relationships.

Advocates for domestic violence awareness are stressing the urgent need for stronger protections for survivors, particularly for Black women, who often face heightened risks of violence and limited access to support resources.

Jackson’s loved ones continue to grieve the profound loss of a devoted mother and an unborn child who never had the chance to take their first breath.
