Jennifer Lopez reportedly left an autograph signing event abruptly after being questioned about allegations against her ex-boyfriend, Sean “Diddy” Combs.
A new video shows the 55-year-old singer avoiding the interrogation after being reminded of her past relationship with Diddy.
Jennifer Lopez and Sean “Diddy” Combs were once one of Hollywood’s most popular A-list couples.
The year was 1999. Diddy and Kim Porter had recently split after welcoming their first son, Christian, just a year earlier. The two were involved in a heated custody battle over the child. In the midst of all this, Diddy was asked to work on Jennifer Lopez’s “If You Had My Love” music video.
The couple began dating after meeting on the set.
Diddy and J.Lo were frequently spotted on nights out together and regarded as an “it couple” of the time. However, one of their most famous outings was slightly more dramatic than most other “it couples.” In 1999, they were involved in a shooting incident in a New York nightclub, which resulted in both of them being arrested.
While Jennifer’s charges were dropped, Diddy was compelled to stand trial on allegations of bribery and gun possession, but he was later cleared.
Jennifer Lopez and Diddy broke up in 2001 after two years together. In a 2003 interview with Vibe, Lopez explained why they split up, saying Diddy “wasn’t faithful” to her.
“I never caught him, but I just knew. He’d say he was going to a club for a couple of hours and then never came back that night,” she recalled. “I had to think, do I want to be home with kids in 10 years wondering where somebody is at three in the morning?”
Though they eventually became friendly after their split, Lopez discussed previous abusive relationships in her 2024 documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told.
“I mean, I was never in a relationship where I got beat up, thank God, but I’ve definitely been manhandled and a couple of other unsavory things. Rough. Disrespectful,” Jennifer Lopez shared in the Amazon Prime doc, which hit the streaming platform in February 2024.
It’s not clear which ex she was referring to.
Jennifer Lopez recently attended a screening and Q&A session for her upcoming film Unstoppable at AFI FEST 2024, according to the Daily Mail on Thursday, October 31. During an autograph signing on her way out, J. Lo was reportedly asked, “Do you have any comments about Diddy and the allegations?”
According to local media, the Atlas star declined to answer the question and stopped signing autographs. She reportedly walked out the door while fans yelled, “Don’t leave!” However, J.Lo is said to have ignored their request and left the event.
