Meghan Markle marked International Women’s Day with a heartfelt tribute and a rare glimpse of her 3-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet.
On Saturday, March 8, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, shared a never-before-seen photo of Lilibet on Instagram.
The touching image shows the young princess on a boat, nestled in the arms of her father, Prince Harry, 40, with her face turned away from the camera.
Honoring Women Around the World
“Happy International Women’s Day!” Meghan wrote in the caption. “Celebrating the strong women around us & the girls with dreams who will become women with vision. Also thanking those who uplift us every day.”
The post also included a black-and-white throwback photo of Meghan as a child playing with her mother, Doria Ragland, as well as a candid oceanside shot of Meghan and Harry laughing together in beachwear.

A Tradition of Empowerment
Meghan has long been an advocate for women’s rights and has made it a tradition to recognize International Women’s Day in meaningful ways.
In 2024, she joined the SXSW panel Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen, where she reflected on her early activism. She recalled writing to Procter & Gamble at just 11 years old to challenge the company’s gendered advertising of dishwashing soap.
The previous year, Meghan and members of her Archewell Foundation attended a fundraising event for Harvest Home, an organization that supports expectant mothers facing challenges such as homelessness, domestic violence, and substance use.
“Happy International Women’s Day to all of you! Whether donating your time, funds, or helping a woman in your community, let’s all celebrate the women in our lives today and every day,” read a statement from Archewell.

Championing Women in Media
Meghan has also worked to promote better representation of mothers in entertainment. Her foundation partnered with Moms First and the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media to fund a study on the portrayal of mothers in film and television.
“As an actress, producer, and mother, I believe in the importance of supporting women and moms both behind the lens and in front of it,” Meghan said at the time, according to Vanity Fair. “This report highlights the gaps we need to fill to achieve true representation, and I’m honored to support this work through the Archewell Foundation.”
As International Women’s Day 2025 approaches, Meghan’s continued efforts through Archewell and her personal advocacy reinforce her commitment to uplifting women—from young girls with big dreams to mothers striving for better futures.
