Former Nickelodeon actor Kianna Underwood has died following a devastating hit-and-run crash in New York City. She was 33 years old. For many Black millennials, her face is instantly familiar, a reminder of after-school TV days shaped by Nickelodeon’s golden era.
According to the New York Police Department, the incident occurred early Friday morning in the Brownsville neighborhood. Authorities say Underwood was crossing an intersection when she was struck by a black Ford Explorer SUV. Moments later, while she was still in the roadway, a second vehicle, a black and gray sedan, also hit her. Both drivers fled the scene. Underwood was pronounced dead at the location.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The loss has hit especially hard for fans who grew up watching Underwood bring joy to screens across the country. She appeared in seven episodes of All That during the show’s 2005 season, sharing the stage with stars like Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon, and Kenan Thompson at a time when the sketch series helped define youth culture. Her comedic timing and presence made her a memorable part of the ensemble, even years later.
Underwood also left a lasting mark through her voice work on Nickelodeon’s Little Bill. From 1999 to 2004, she voiced Fuchsia Glover, the cousin of the title character, appearing in more than 20 episodes of the animated series.
Beyond television, she was also a stage performer. Underwood spent a year touring nationally with Hairspray, appearing as Little Inez, further showcasing her range and dedication to her craft.
