Nia Long Lands Role As Katherine Jackson In Michael Jackson Biopic – Check Out Her Reaction!

The ‘Big Momma’s House’ actress will play the late pop star’s mother, Katherine Jackson, in late pop star Michael Jackson’s biopic, ‘Michael.’

Nia Long scored an iconic leading role in a new film that will tell the story of one of the greatest musicians of all time.

Lionsgate and Universal Pictures International announced that the “You People” actress will join the Jackson family Jackson musical family as Katherine Jackson, the family matriarch.

Director Antoine Fuqua praised Long, mentioning how excited he was to work with her on the film.

Fuqua said, “Nia has delivered iconic performances throughout her career. I’ve been a fan for a long time because her characters stay with you. I’m excited to now work alongside her as she pours all of that into Katherine Jackson: a woman who was the glue, the rock, and the heart of the Jackson family during its best and its most turbulent times.”

“Beyond Nia’s incredible talent, I was deeply moved by her connection to the material and her commitment to honoring Katherine and the love she had for her son,” producer Graham King added.

The film stars Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson’s nephew, to portray the historic music icon. While 9-year-old actor Juliano Krue is playing a young version of Michael. Oscar nominee Colman Domingo also features as Joe Jackson, Michael’s father.

In a short statement, Nia Long expressed her gratitude for the honor of depicting Michael Jackson’s mother.

“Katherine Jackson is an incredible pillar of strength and grace for the entire Jackson family. As a mother, she was selfless and endured forces beyond her control yet still managed to help build a legacy beyond measure. I am honored to bring her voice to the screen and share Michael Jackson’s story with audiences everywhere.”

“Michael”, slated to be released in theaters on April 18, 2024, is being made in cooperation with Jackson’s estate.

Though the film promises to tackle all aspects of Jackson’s life, it’s unclear if it will address accusations that he sexually abused children, which resurfaced in the 2019 HBO documentary Leaving Neverland.
