Grammy-winning singer Ella Mai and Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum have welcomed their first child together. The couple, who have kept their relationship relatively private, surprised fans with the happy news.
After the Boston Celtics star and the Team USA men’s basketball team defeated France in the Paris Olympics finals on Saturday, the couple debuted their baby during a family photo shoot to celebrate Tatum’s victory.
In June, speculation began after a video surfaced on social media that Ella Mai and Jayson Tatum are reportedly expecting a child. However, the couple did not confirm the news.
The video featured the “Boo’d Up” singer with a visible baby bump in the locker room hallway. She was also spotted attending an NBA Finals afterparty. Some of Mai’s fans noticed a slight bulge in her Celtics jersey in video footage taken shortly after the win.
According to PEOPLE, the pair started dating in 2020. Two years later, during an interview with “The Breakfast Club,” she was questioned about their alleged relationship. She replied that she liked to keep her relationships private.
And so it should not have shocked fans that she managed to keep the entire pregnancy a secret, making the announcement all the more surprising.
Tatum posed for a video with the “Boo’d Up” singer, who was holding the newborn, his mother, grandmother, and his eldest son, Jayson “Deuce” Tatum Jr., whom he shares with his high school girlfriend, Toriah Lachell.
In another scene, Mai held the infant while Tatum took solo photos with Deuce.
Mai has remained relatively quiet since the release of her sophomore album, Heart On My Sleeve. Lucky Daye, Latto, and Roddy Ricch made guest appearances on the 15-track album. It also featured standout tracks such as “DFMU,” “Leave You Alone,” and “Power Of A Woman,” to name a few. She’s also done a few films since then, including Kiana Ledé’s “Jealous.”
