Vanessa Williams’ recent weight loss from Mounjaro has sparked a wave of online conversation, with fans voicing concern about what many described as a noticeably slimmer frame.
The 62-year-old actress, singer, and former Miss America has now addressed the chatter directly, revealing that her transformation is tied to a deliberate health decision rather than anything alarming.
In a new interview with Hello! magazine, Williams opened up about taking the GLP-1 medication Mounjaro for the past two years as part of her approach to managing menopause. The candid revelation came as she graced the magazine’s cover, looking poised and confident while reflecting on how her body has changed as she’s entered her 60s.
“It’s a game-changer,” Williams said, explaining that the decision came after a period of frustration and self-reflection. Turning 60 forced her to pause and reassess what longevity and wellness meant to her.

Vanessa Williams didn’t shy away from describing how difficult her 50s were. She said she entered perimenopause in her late forties, but by 51, the changes felt sudden and overwhelming. The workouts stayed the same. The diet stayed the same. Her body, however, did not. The lack of response left her feeling disconnected from a version of herself she had long known.
That experience, she explained, pushed her to explore medical options that could support her during menopause. Mounjaro, an FDA-approved medication for people with type 2 diabetes that has also been widely used for weight management, became part of that plan. The drug works by reducing appetite, increasing fullness, and helping the body process sugar and fat more efficiently.

Williams has also incorporated hormone replacement therapy and NAD+ injections into her routine, treatments she says have helped her feel more balanced and energized. She spoke enthusiastically about the role science has played in her journey, calling modern medical advancements empowering rather than intimidating.
Online, reactions have been mixed. Some fans admitted they were worried by her weight loss, while others praised her transparency and applauded her for speaking openly about menopause, a topic that still carries stigma, especially for Black women.
Vanessa Williams joins a list of well-known names, including Oprah Winfrey and Serena Williams, who have also discussed their experiences with GLP-1 medications.
