Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), a prominent member of the House Judiciary Committee, is calling out President Donald Trump over his alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

The fiery politician is accusing Trump of deliberately withholding the full contents of the Epstein files to protect himself.

In a charged appearance on MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes, Rep. Crockett didn’t mince words as she slammed the former president’s lack of transparency:

“Clearly, you got something to hide, Mr. President,” she quipped.

Crockett’s comments follow growing pressure from both sides of the aisle—particularly among some right-wing commentators and Trump supporters—who have questioned why Trump has not released all of the Epstein-related records as he promised to do during his 2024 electioneering campaign.

On MSNBC on Thursday, July 17, Crockett hinted at why the files may never be released:

“We know he had this ongoing relationship with Epstein—they were basically like besties,” she said. “We know that a lot of the recruitment allegedly happened at Mar-a-Lago. We know that women have come forward saying they were sexually assaulted or abused.”

Crockett, a civil rights attorney by training, further pointed out that Trump has already been found liable for sexual abuse by a jury in a separate civil trial involving E. Jean Carroll.

“If this had anything to do with Democrats, baby, it would’ve been out on day one,” she said. “But he wanted access to those files. And after getting a glimpse, I think he decided he just wants to move on and talk about something else.”

Chris Hayes noted during the exchange that some of the incidents Crockett referenced—including a case of a then-23-year-old model introduced to Trump by Epstein who accused him of groping her—have been publicly reported and corroborated in outlets like The Guardian.

When Hayes asked if she believed there’s something incriminating in the Epstein files that directly implicates Trump, Crockett responded:

“I do. Listen, this guy isn’t above board… If he thought for just two seconds that he could hurt anybody but himself, then absolutely we would have the files.”

Meanwhile, tech billionaire Elon Musk recently posted on X that Trump is “in the Epstein files”, referring to court documents and evidence thought to have been collected by investigators. The White House has rubbished the post that has since been deleted by Musk.

Earlier this month, the US Department of Justice and FBI said in a report that Epstein did not have a so-called client list that could implicate high-profile associates, and that he did take his own life, contradicting long-held conspiracy theories.

Amid pressure, Trump has asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to release “any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony” on Jeffrey Epstein, after what he calls a “ridiculous amount of publicity”.

The Judiciary Committee is now facing increasing scrutiny over whether it will compel testimony from individuals close to the Trump administration, such as Bondi and ex-Trump aide Kash Patel, now FBI Director, both of whom had some involvement in Epstein-related discussions.

House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan has stated that the committee is working behind the scenes and anticipates the Attorney General’s annual testimony later this year. But Crockett appeared skeptical of any imminent transparency:

“We’re in month seven… They’re not rushing to come and see us. And I wonder why.”

She added that Bondi may be “concerned” about facing the panel’s experienced attorneys, implying that she may not be fully candid if called to testify:

“She may be afraid of stepping into a little bit of poo with some of her answers.”

The Epstein case, which ended in the convicted sex offender’s controversial 2019 jailhouse death, continues to reverberate throughout American politics.

Public interest has reignited in recent weeks following partial releases of names associated with Epstein’s circles and new demands for full disclosure.

Democrats on the Judiciary Committee have openly called for full access to unredacted files and potential subpoenas for key Trump associates. Crockett’s comments reflect a deepening frustration over what many see as a politically convenient silence.

As calls grow louder for transparency and accountability, Crockett made clear she believes that the resistance to full disclosure is politically calculated:

“His loyalists will stay with him regardless… but if those files hurt only other people, we’d have seen them already.”
