It has come as a surprise to find that not only has model and partner of acclaimed actor LaKeith Stanfield tied the knot – but also just had a baby.

The Atlanta celebrity and his wife Kasmere Trice, a model, made the announcement in an exclusive feature with People magazine, stating that their lives have “completely” changed now that they are married with child.

“There’s life before being a parent, and then there’s life being a parent. It completely changes,” Stanfield told the media outlet.

The 31-year-old actor is the father of two children from prior relationships. As for Trice, it is her first child.

The pair recently announced that they were engaged via Instagram on Instagram last December. No one heard anything since until news hit that they wed and had a child.

“We decided early on we wanted to protect our baby as much as we can for as long as possible,” Trice said, adding that they decided as a couple not to share the name nor gender of the child.

Stanfield continued: “Being in the public eye can be something that’s amazing, but it can also be something that is very hard on you. There needs to be things that exist that are sacred and not for consumption for everybody.” Their reason for speaking out now: “We want to be the ones to tell our story. We’re bringing our family forward so we may inspire others.”

Stanfield has been known to keep his life private just that: private. He cemented his presence in Hollywood after appearing in the hit FX series Atlanta and first became a household name in 2017’s award-winning film, Get Out.

In 2021, he gained accolade playing an FBI informant in Judas and the Black Messiah. He would eventually receive an Oscar nod for his performance.

The California native now stars in the film, Haunted Mansion, but he said he is ready to continue on his path as a musician. His EP, Brother, is scheduled to be released later this summer.

“It’s an opportunity for me to be expressive in a way that I’m not always able to,” he says of the audiovisual project, which combines synth and soul.

While Stanfield was working on a project in Canada, he met Trice, who he had varied expectations with when they first crossed paths.

“We were just feeling each other out, like maybe this will be a cool friend,” he said. “As love does, it just smacked us out of nowhere. I’m working on my music, writing and writing, and then this person who I was seemingly writing about pops up in my life. It was strange.”

But before long he said that “I released myself to the love.” He later proposed to the model who says she is “really honored that I got to see the father in [him] before I was even having our baby,” adding that his daughters from previous relationships are “so fun and so smart.

“Sometimes, when things can get difficult, you have to remember that what’s most important is the child,” Stanfield said, “and that we’re pushing ourselves to grow, so we can reflect back to them the good things.”

Congratulations, Kasmere and LaKeith!
