Social media users around the world are mourning the loss of Khadejah Sutherland, a 26-year-old TikTok creator who courageously documented her battle with terminal cancer and inspired thousands with her honesty, resilience, and determination to live fully.
Sutherland, originally from Birmingham, passed away on April 10, 2026, after a four-year fight with cancer. Her family confirmed the news in a heartfelt message shared on her TikTok account, noting that she died peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Diagnosed at just 22 years old, Sutherland initially learned she had stage 3 breast cancer.
Her case was particularly complex, as she did not experience the common early warning signs typically associated with the disease. Instead, she reported unusual symptoms such as rapid weight gain and persistent skin issues—factors that delayed clarity around her condition.
Over time, her diagnosis progressed to stage four, with the cancer spreading to her liver and stomach. Despite the devastating prognosis, Sutherland remained remarkably open about her experience, using her platform to educate others about advanced cancer and the realities of living with a terminal illness.
“When I was diagnosed, I was absolutely devastated,” she once shared, describing the moment as surreal and difficult to process.
Later, as her condition worsened, she spoke candidly about the emotional toll of knowing her life would be cut short, calling it “gut-wrenching” to face a future unlike that of others her age.
Yet even in the face of unimaginable hardship, Sutherland refused to let cancer define her life.
Just months before her passing, the former history teacher emphasized that she would not allow the illness to “take over” her dreams. She went on to travel extensively, checking off destinations on her bucket list including Paris, Brazil, Prague, Ibiza, Malta, Dublin, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. Her final posts even documented her time hospitalized in Japan, where she continued to share insights into her journey, including the high cost of medical care abroad.
Through it all, Sutherland built a growing online community of more than 19,000 followers who were drawn to her authenticity, courage, and unwavering spirit.
Her family’s tribute captured the impact she left behind: while cancer may have taken her life, it could never take away the love, laughter, and memories she shared.
Sutherland’s story has not only touched hearts but also raised critical awareness about the complexities of cancer diagnosis—especially in young people—and the importance of listening to one’s body, even when symptoms seem atypical.
In her final years, Khadejah Sutherland transformed personal pain into purpose—leaving behind a legacy of strength, vulnerability, and inspiration that continues to resonate far beyond social media.
