Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson has solidified her position as a dominant force in women’s basketball, inking a groundbreaking six-year contract extension with Nike. This landmark deal, reported by ESPN, positions Wilson among the highest-paid female athletes in the sport.

On Tuesday morning, Shams Charania from ESPN reported that Wilson has reached a six-year contract extension with Nike, making it one of the most lucrative shoe agreements for a female basketball player.

This deal follows a record-breaking WNBA season for the two-time MVP and solidifies Wilson’s place not only as a basketball powerhouse but also as a global brand icon. Earlier this year, Wilson unveiled her first-ever signature shoe with Nike, the A’One, a highly anticipated release that will officially hit shelves in the spring of 2025.

The 28-year-old star is the 13th WNBA player to receive her own signature shoe, joining an elite group of athletes, including Breanna Stewart (Puma) and Sabrina Ionescu (Nike), who have shattered barriers for women in sports endorsements.

The exact amount of the six-time WNBA All-Star’s new extension remains uncertain, as she continues her partnership with the sportswear giant after initially signing with them as a rookie in 2018.

The six-foot-four center established a WNBA record by scoring an average of 26.9 points throughout the 2024 season. Wilson contributed 11.9 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game, earning her third MVP award. The Las Vegas Aces, led by Wilson, secured back-to-back WNBA championships in 2022 and 2023, and she was named the defensive player of the year in both seasons.

A’ja Wilson, two-time WNBA defensive player of the year, has established herself as one of the top players in the league since being drafted from the University of South Carolina. The former NCAA national champion became only the fourth player to achieve the league MVP title three times in the most recent season. She also guided the United States women’s basketball team to win a gold medal at the Olympics this summer in Paris.

Fans have celebrated Wilson’s continued success, applauding her for paving the way for future generations of athletes while achieving her dreams and becoming a role model for young girls aspiring to reach the highest levels of athletic performance and business achievement.

Congratulations to A’ja Wilson on her historic Nike contract extension—she’s not just breaking records, she’s setting new standards for the game!
