Mary J. Blige has always been known for her raw honesty and emotional depth, both in her music and her life. On February 3, 2025, during her For My Fans tour stop at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, Blige once again opened her heart to her fans, sharing deeply personal struggles about her divorce and the mental abuse she endured.

The emotional moment added a powerful layer of vulnerability to an unforgettable night of music and connection.

Mary J Blige, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and multi-platinum recording artist, captivated the sold-out crowd from the moment she stepped on stage. Dressed in her signature mix of glamour and street style, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul made sure her Atlanta fans got a show to remember.

“ATL, I love y’all. I’m going to need all the real Mary J. Blige fans to make some noise!” she declared as the crowd erupted into cheers. Throughout the night, she invited the audience to sing along, sometimes even handing over the mic as her devoted fans passionately belted out the lyrics to her biggest hits.

Midway through the concert, Blige paused to address the audience, her voice filled with emotion. She spoke about the pain of her divorce and the mental abuse she experienced, a topic she has touched on before but never with such raw intensity.

“Piece of mind is worth a billion dollars right now.”

After 13 years of marriage, Mary J. Blige initiated divorce proceedings against her ex-husband, Kendu Isaacs, in July 2016. Soon after, Kendu’sions regarding Kendu’s infidelity emerged in the press. Although he did not assist the singer in settling the $12 million debt accumulated during their marriage, Kendu believed he was entitled to significant financial support from his estranged wife—amounting to six figures. As per legal documents acquired by TMZ, Kendu initially sought $129,391 monthly in temporary spousal support, claiming he is “unemployable” and cannot pay his rent without the monetary support he receives from Blige.

In June 2018, a Los Angeles judge finally approved the 47-year-old singer’s divorce settlement. However, according to reports, the exact terms of their settlement are confidential.
