The ongoing saga surrounding Wendy Williams’ health has taken another dramatic turn. After the former talk show host publicly denied being diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has requested a new medical evaluation to assess Williams’ condition. The latest development comes as Williams continues to speak out against her diagnosis, calling it “disgusting” and insisting she is in good health.
Sabrina Morrissey filed a request for a “new medical evaluation” shortly after the 60-year-old former talk show host stated that she was not “incapacitated” during her appearance on The Breakfast Club.
“I don’t have frontotemporal dementia…it’s disgusting,” Wendy Williams said on the radio program on February 5. “That’s a very rare thing for anybody to have. I’m not incapacitated. I am not a baby.”
Sabrina Morrissey, who has been responsible for managing Williams’ medical and financial matters since May 2022, communicated to the judge her intention to be open about Wendy’s health condition and believes it “would be prudent for (Wendy) to undergo a new medical evaluation that will involve comprehensive neurological and psychological testing by a specialist in the field.” as reported by TMZ on Wednesday, referencing a letter from the guardian’s attorney.
Morrissey revealed that she is requesting this because she wants to be transparent about Williams’ health struggles. She also handed over details regarding the former “Wendy Williams Show” host’s recent discussions on “The Breakfast Club” and other platforms, where she stated that she is “not cognitively impaired” and does not have frontotemporal dementia, even though her “care team” disclosed her diagnosis in 2023.
Morrissey also requested that the A&E lawsuit be put on hold as they await results from the requested re-evaluation writing in legal correspondence via attorney Roberta Kaplan. However, she appears to be convinced that nothing will improve, as she mentioned in her letter to the judge:
“The Guardian has no interest in pursuing litigation in the extremely unlikely event that the new medical examination finds that (Wendy) somehow now has the mental capacity to direct the A&E matter.”
Sabrina Morrissey asserted that the “official diagnosis” of Williams was provided by physicians at Weill Cornell Medical Center, who indicated that the 60-year-old is affected by frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and primary progressive aphasia (PPA).
Furthermore, the document mentioned that Williams’ condition will “only get worse, and there is no cure.”
