Award-winning singer, songwriter, and outspoken social commentator, Dara Starr Tucker, is making waves with a viral video posted to Facebook in which she delivers a searing critique of the Trump administration’s recent actions impacting Black Americans.
The video, already circulating widely across social platforms, urges viewers to reject the “both parties are the same” narrative and confront what she describes as a coordinated campaign to dismantle civil rights infrastructure and erase Black historical memory.
“This isn’t just policy disagreement,” Tucker says in the video. “This is erasure… a campaign to unravel every hard-won inch of progress our people have made.”
Tucker’s commentary outlines a series of federal actions allegedly carried out under recent Trump executive orders. Among the most alarming, she claims:
- The effective dismantling of the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, eliminating federal oversight on civil rights violations;
- The elimination of the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), which in the last fiscal year alone facilitated nearly $5 billion in federal contracts for Black-owned businesses and served more than 35,000 entrepreneurs;
- The reported removal of Black resistance exhibits from the National Museum of African American History and Culture, which she decries as part of a larger effort to “control the narrative” and distort public memory.
Tucker points to the widely condemned Project 2025 initiative, a policy roadmap championed by far-right institutions and Trump-aligned groups, as the blueprint for these developments.
“If you remove the stories of Black struggle and Black victory from the public square, you make it easier to justify new injustices,” Tucker states.
She also challenges those who equate the Democratic and Republican parties, noting that while both are imperfect, the consequences of cynicism are too grave to ignore.
“There is a difference between imperfection and outright destruction,” she said. “Frustration cannot replace clarity.”
Throughout the nearly 6-minute video, Tucker blends pointed political analysis with an impassioned plea for engagement, historical awareness, and critical thinking.
