The Court has ruled in favor of Halle Bailey against her ex-boyfriend and father of her child DDG. The Little Mermaid star will keep custody of her 17-month-old son, Halo, after a judge shut down DDG’s last-minute attempt to block her from traveling for work.
A judge has denied DDG’s last-minute, emergency request to block Halle from taking their infant son, Halo, on an upcoming work trip. This means Halle will retain custody of Halo for now, allowing her to continue her international work commitments with her son.
According to court documents, DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., waited until June 4th, just days before Halle’s planned travel, to try and block her work trip and request new custody orders. This is despite the fact that he reportedly ignored her previous efforts to arrange monitored visits since Halle’s original Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) was filed back on May 13th. DDG’s eleventh-hour timing did not sway the judge.
In a win for The Little Mermaid star, the judge not only denied DDG’s request for a domestic violence restraining order against Halle but also upheld Halle’s original restraining order and even extended it, setting the next hearing for June 24th. This means Halle will keep custody of Halo until the next hearing.
TMZ reports that the Court sided with Halle, indicating she is now free to travel with her 17-month-old son, Halo. Court documents seen by People reveal DDG specifically aimed to stop Bailey from taking Halo on vacation to Italy, claiming she poses an “imminent emotional and psychological risk to the minor child based on repeated, documented threats of self-harm.” He expressed concern that if Halo left the country, the toddler would be without the protections of the Court and any “emergency intervention mechanisms.”
However, Halle had already been granted temporary physical and legal custody of Halo in May following her allegations that DDG had physically and emotionally abused her. In her restraining order request, she had also asked the Court to grant her permission to take their son out of the country for her work. Additionally, she sought an order for DDG and his family and friends to cease posting about their son, the ongoing litigation, and Bailey herself on all social media platforms.
Let’s not forget this isn’t the first public skirmish over Halo. In November last year, Halle publicly called out DDG after he allowed their son to appear in a livestream. “Hi everyone. Just so you know, I am out of town, and I don’t approve of my baby being on a stream tonight,” she wrote on X in a since-deleted post. “I wasn’t told or notified, and I am extremely upset to have my baby in front of millions of people.” She concluded passionately: “I am his mother and protector, and I am saddened that I wasn’t notified, especially when I am out of town.”
While DDG continues to deny Halle’s allegations of abuse, it seems the Court is, for now, prioritizing Halle’s ability to travel for work with their son.
This ongoing legal battle is incredibly complex, with very serious accusations from both sides. We’ll be watching closely for the June 24th hearing!
