Jan. 28, 2017, forever marked a tragedy in North Lauderdale, Florida, when 48-year-old Temeco Williams and her 15-year-old daughter, Jada Allen, were gunned down in their home.
Exactly 8 years later, the brutal double homicide remains unsolved, leaving a grieving family and community desperate for answers.
That fateful morning, just after 5 a.m., Broward County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call from Temeco’s youngest daughter. The terrified child reported hearing gunshots, her mother’s screams, and then silence.
When authorities arrived, they found Jada dead from gunshot wounds and Temeco gravely injured but alive. She was rushed to a hospital, but despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries hours later.
A Family Devastated, a Community Stunned
Temeco was remembered as a devoted mother of five, working tirelessly to create a safe and loving home for her children.
Jada, a vibrant freshman at Blanche Ely High School, was an honor student who dreamed of becoming a doctor. Known for her infectious energy and beautiful smile, she left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.
Their murders left neighbors and friends reeling.
“Nobody deserves what my sister and niece got,” Temeco’s sister, Nicole, shared during a 2024 interview. “They were at home, asleep. Who could hurt them in that place of safety?”
A Chilling Crime Scene and Elusive Suspect
Investigators faced a perplexing case. There were no signs of forced entry, suggesting the killer was someone familiar with the victims or the home. Nothing was stolen, ruling out robbery as a motive. The calculated nature of the crime left detectives convinced the murders were deliberate and personal.
Despite an exhaustive investigation involving interviews, surveillance footage reviews, and forensic analysis, no suspect has been identified. The absence of clear evidence, such as DNA or fingerprints, has only deepened the mystery.
Renewed Efforts for Justice
In 2024, the Broward Sheriff’s Office doubled the reward for information leading to an arrest, increasing it to $10,000. Detectives stated that even the smallest detail could unlock the case.
“Maybe you heard something or saw something that didn’t seem important at the time,” said Detective Zach Scott, part of the Cold Case Unit.
The case was also featured in a Cold Case Initiative aimed at reigniting public interest and generating new leads. Community leaders, law enforcement, and the victims’ family continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward, urging anyone with information to contact authorities or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
A Plea for Closure
The unsolved murders of Temeco and Jada are a haunting reminder of the devastating impact of violence. For their surviving family, the pain of their loss is compounded by the lack of answers.
“Every day without justice is a day their killer walks free,” Nicole stated. “We need closure. They deserve that much.”
As the years pass, the community’s resolve to see justice served remains unshaken. The memory of Temeco and Jada lives on as a call to action, urging anyone with information to come forward and help bring peace to a family shattered by tragedy.
