Academy Award-nominated actress, producer, bestselling author, and mental health advocate Taraji P. Henson has signed with Independent Artist Group (IAG) for representation.

IAG is a full-service talent and literary agency representing actors, writers, directors, and other creatives across film, television, and digital media. Known for its strategic approach to career management, IAG helps clients secure major roles, develop projects, and expand their influence in the entertainment industry.

Variety exclusively reports that in addition to representing Henson’s illustrious career, IAG will also work with her production company, TPH Entertainment, which maintains a first-look deal with BET.

With a career spanning decades, Henson has earned an Oscar nomination, a Golden Globe, and six BET Awards, alongside multiple Emmy, SAG, Critics’ Choice, and NAACP Image Award nominations.

Most recently, she starred in Peacock’s limited series Fight Night, which debuted as the platform’s most-watched premiere and top original drama. The series earned NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Limited Television (Series, Special, or Movie), with Henson receiving the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Television (Series, Special, or Movie).

Henson also starred in the critically acclaimed musical adaptation of The Color Purple, winning another NAACP Image Award and receiving a Screen Actors Guild ensemble nomination. She is set to appear next in Tyler Perry’s Straw for Netflix and will be featured in Apple TV+’s Number One on the Call Sheet, a two-part documentary highlighting Black actors’ contributions to Hollywood, as well as CNN’s travel series My Happy Place.

IAG’s partnership with Henson will involve close collaboration with Emmy-winning Head of Development and Production Jamila Jordan-Theus to expand TPH Entertainment. The company is focused on amplifying diverse voices and creating impactful content, aligning with Henson’s vision of pushing boundaries and storytelling that resonates globally.

For IAG CEO Jim Osborne, Henson’s signing is another high-profile addition following the agency’s recent deal with Sylvester Stallone and his Balboa Productions.

Henson’s rise to fame began with her breakthrough performance in Hustle & Flow (2005), which earned her a Screen Actors Guild nomination and a BET Award for Best Actress. Her filmography includes major roles in Hidden Figures, Acrimony, Proud Mary, Think Like a Man (and its sequel), Smokin’ Aces, No Good Deed, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, the latter earning her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

In television, she is widely recognized for her role as Cookie Lyon in Empire, which garnered her multiple Primetime Emmy nominations, a Golden Globe win, and made her the first Black woman to receive a Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series. She also earned an Emmy nomination for her guest appearance on Abbott Elementary.

Henson’s creative influence extends beyond film and television. She was a Tony nominee for Best Play in 2024 as a producer of Jaja’s African Hair Braiding and has authored two bestselling books, Around the Way Girl and You Can Be a Good Friend (No Matter What!).

In addition, she founded the Boris L. Henson Foundation to normalize and improve access to mental health services for Black communities. She also launched TPH by Taraji, an inclusive, award-winning personal care brand, and in 2024, she joined Seven Daughters Moscato as a strategic advisor and creative collaborator. Henson continues to be represented by M88, 2PM Sharp, and TriStar.
