American political commentator Candace Owens has ignited a new international firestorm after alleging that French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, ordered an assassination plot against her involving members of France’s elite counterterrorism force and an Israeli operative.

The explosive claim, made in an “URGENT” post on X/Twitter on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, remains entirely unverified and has not been supported by any publicly available evidence.

In the message, Owens said she was contacted by someone she described as a “high-ranking employee of the French Government,” who allegedly warned her that the Macrons had “executed upon and paid for my assassination.”

According to Owens, the operation was supposedly assigned to a unit within the National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (GIGN), France’s special operations force, with “one Israeli” team member involved.

Owens asserted that the source offered “concrete proof” of their identity and access to government information — but she did not release documents, recordings, or any independently verifiable material to support her allegations.

No law enforcement agency, intelligence service, or credible investigative outlet has corroborated any part of her story.

Claims linked to assassination of Charlie Kirk

Owens further connected the alleged plot to the September 2025 killing of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, repeating theories she has circulated for weeks. She claimed Kirk’s assassin “trained with the French legion 13th brigade with multi-state involvement,” despite officials not confirming any such link.

She also warned that French journalist Xavier Poussard — known for reporting on Brigitte Macron — was in danger. “The head of state of France apparently wants us both dead,” Owens wrote, urging followers to spread her message widely.

The post quickly ricocheted across social media, fueling alarm among supporters and disbelief among critics who cite Owens’s long history of promoting conspiracy theories.

Many analysts noted that the seriousness of such an allegation — involving a NATO member state, Israel, and an attempted assassination of a U.S. citizen — would ordinarily trigger immediate diplomatic crisis management, yet no government has acknowledged receiving any threat report.

No response yet from France, Israel, or the United States

As of publication, the Élysée Palace, France’s Interior Ministry, the National Gendarmerie, Israeli officials, and U.S. authorities have not responded publicly to Owens’s accusations.

The claims remain unverified, and no official entity has confirmed the existence of such a plot.

Owens, 36, is a prominent far-right media figure who previously worked with Turning Point USA and later with The Daily Wire before parting ways in 2024. Britannica and several media watchdogs have noted her repeated promotion of conspiracy theories on topics including U.S. politics, COVID-19, and the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Her latest claims arrive at a volatile moment: the Macrons are pursuing a sweeping 22-count defamation lawsuit against her in Delaware.

Filed in July 2025, the suit accuses Owens of pushing “demonstrably false” narratives — particularly the conspiracy theory that Brigitte Macron was born male — through videos, social media, and monetized content. The complaint alleges she continued to spread the theory even after being presented with official records disproving it, framing her actions as “the pursuit of fame.”

Owens has responded by rebranding the clash as a global free-speech struggle. She launched a media campaign titled Becoming Brigitte and told her audience, “On behalf of the entire world, I will see you in court.”

A claim with geopolitical consequences — if true

If Owens’s allegations were substantiated, they would represent an unprecedented breach: an EU head of state allegedly authorizing a targeted killing of a U.S. citizen on or off American soil, with cooperation from a third country. That scenario would trigger multiple international investigations and potentially a diplomatic crisis between Washington and Paris.

But at present, the claims stand unsupported, and officials’ silence likely reflects the extremely high bar required to engage with an allegation of this magnitude.

Observers warn that unverified claims involving intelligence agencies and foreign governments can quickly escalate public distrust — especially when amplified by influential figures online.

For now, Owens’s accusations remain unproven, politically explosive, and deeply polarizing — adding another episode to her long record of controversy at home and abroad.
