As Mental Health Awareness Month takes center stage, the “I Love Me More. Period.” Podcast is emerging as a powerful voice of hope and healing. Co-created by motivational speaker, author, researcher, and academic professional Dr. Jamila T. Davis, along with empowerment expert Tara Wallace, the podcast offers a transformative journey toward self-discovery, resilience, and self-love, particularly for Black women.

Dr. Jamila T. Davis’s life story epitomizes resilience and redemption. At 25, she became a self-made multi-millionaire, but her trajectory changed dramatically when she was sentenced to 12 1/2 years for bank fraud in 2008. Despite this setback, Dr. Davis made the most of her time behind bars. She earned several degrees and developed “The Voices of Consequences Enrichment Series,” a groundbreaking self-help curriculum designed to empower incarcerated women. Her dedication to uplifting others led to the adoption of this program by the Bureau of Prisons, which now offers it as an approved program for time credit under the First Step Act.

Dr. Davis’s collaboration with Tara Wallace, former reality show star of “Love & Hip Hop,” began in 2019 at the Shani Baraka Center in Newark, NJ. They started hosting healing circles for women, focusing on victims of domestic violence. Their program, Rise Up, created a safe space for healing and empowerment. By publicly sharing their personal stories with the group, they facilitated healing that extended beyond the initial 8-week program, lasting over a year during the pandemic. This initiative also contributed to Davis’s PhD dissertation research.

The profound impact of their work inspired Dr. Davis and Wallace to co-author the best-selling book “I Love Me More: The 8 Steps to Breaking Free From Toxic Relationships.” The podcast “I Love Me More. Period.” builds on the principles from their book, providing listeners with actionable steps, relatable stories, and expert advice. With skyrocketing views and downloads, the podcast has become essential listening for Black women and girls seeking support and guidance on their path to self-love and healing.

Recently ranked #4 on Apple Podcasts for Mental Health, “I Love Me More. Period.” offers a unique blend of engaging content, practical advice, and inspiring guest interviews. The podcast transcends traditional boundaries, providing an intimate conversation and a supportive friend in audio form for those embarking on personal growth journeys.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, “I Love Me More. Period.” is spotlighted as a critical resource for promoting mental well-being, destigmatizing mental health issues, and encouraging individuals to prioritize self-care, especially within the Black community.
